It centers around a lonely girl named Ember. She has an alcoholic father who mentally abuses her daily. She has no friends. She skips school and spends all her time at a cemetery talking to dead people while drawing them.
Her father dies, and while she's at his funeral she notices a man watching her. His name is Mace, a soul eater.
Her cousins, which she never knew existed think they're saving her by knocking Mace out and getting her to come with them. They go to a small town in Florida where they live with a wolf pack.
What Ember doesn't know is that she is a supernatural being. Nobody knows what she is, but they're all determined to figure it out.
This paranormal story is a little different than what I normally read. There are several types of supernatural beings, including ones I've never heard of.
The characters all have such different personalities and I really liked them.
Each chapter switches to a different person's point of view. It goes back and forth between 4 different people, Ember, Mace, Kai, and Tristin.
There were a few typos, but still I really enjoyed this story. If I didn't have 3 kids to tend to, I would have read this a lot quicker. I found myself wanting to pick my kindle back up every chance I got to see what happened next.
I highly recommend this book!
Soon I plan on reading the 2nd book in the series titled Dark Dreams and Dead Things. I like to wait until books are either free or on sale.
